Working in Aurora
Aurora's City Hall is on Chillicothe Road, and Aurora Farms Premium Outlets, at 549 South Chillicothe Road, has more than 50 outlet stores. On the old Geauga Lake site, the city bought about 47 acres of lakefront for Aurora Park at Geauga Lake, and part of the park extends into Bainbridge Township.
Aurora borders Reminderville, where homes east of Illinois Street are in the Aurora schools. If your crews work in Aurora and in Reminderville next door, one Google profile service area can list them by name, and every call you miss gets a text back.
Permits and contractor registration in Aurora
Aurora's own building department reviews plans, issues permits and inspects. The city says all general contractors and subcontractors working under building permits must register with it, and it can't issue a building permit until every contractor on the project is registered. Registration takes:
- a $100 fee;
- a signed $25,000 City of Aurora performance bond;
- a certificate of liability insurance naming the City of Aurora as certificate holder and additional insured;
- a RITA Form 48, and a State of Ohio licence for HVAC, plumbing and electrical contractors.
The city's code says registrations expire December 31 of the year issued. Registration is done through the city's online portal. Building office: 330-562-9564.
Rules change, so check with the city before you start. Checked October 2026.

Questions from Aurora businesses
Can my Google profile cover Reminderville and Twinsburg too?
If you can get to jobs there, yes. I set one service area of about 10 to 15 miles that you can actually cover, and list the towns in it by name.
Can my website have a page for Aurora?
Yes, if Aurora is in your service area. On the 15- and 30-page plans, the towns you serve get their own pages, each written for that town.
Do I have to change the software I use now?
No. Keep it, and use it alongside the system.
Do contractors have to register to work in Aurora?
Yes. The city says every general contractor and subcontractor working under a building permit registers with it, with a $100 fee and a $25,000 performance bond, and no permit is issued until all contractors on the job are registered.
Should my website say I'm registered in Aurora?
If you are, it's worth saying. Your registration, insurance and licence details can go on your website, so a homeowner can check them before they call.
